Water Gap Country Club, originally penned by A.W. Tillinghast and completed in 1922 by Robert White (the first PGA president and father of Grand Strand golf), hosted the Eastern Open from 1926 to 1928. During those years Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Leo Diegel and many other golf legends competed in this PGA event.
